Make Do And Mend.

In the economic state of the country today, there’s never been more emphasis on the reuse/ recycling of everyday products, in order to save money. Fashion has a reputation of being a throw away industry, with its ever changing trends and seasons. Many designer makers are looking into new ways of using waste materials to create a new ECO and SUSTAINABLE friendly fashion.

My work investigates how this idea can work on a smaller scale, with me sourcing materials from waste yarns thrown away in our knit practice and seeing what I can come up with. The reuse of old clothing is also very important in staying true to the original make do and mend of the war.

In order to collate my yarns I am relying on others waste and donations of wool and jumpers that I can revive in my own style.
